Upway Global Invited to Attend the New Territories General Chamber of Commerce Lunar New Year Reception

In the new year, Upway Global sets sail again, having been invited to attend the Lunar New Year reception held by the New Territories General Chamber of Commerce (NTGCC). The event was officiated by several dignitaries, including Mr. C.Y. Leung, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee; Ms. Elsie Leung Oi-sie, Deputy Director of the HKSAR Basic Law Committee; Mr. Bernard Chan, Convenor of the Executive Council and Honorary President of the Chamber; Mr. Kevin Yeung Yun-hung, Secretary for Education; Mr. Liu Lin, Director of the New Territories Sub-office of the Liaison Office of the Central Peoples Government (LOCPG) in the HKSAR; Ms. Jin Ping, Deputy Director-General of the Economic Affairs Department of the LOCPG; Mr. Simon Peh Yun-lu, Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC); and Mr. Tam Yiu-chung, HKSAR Deputy to the National Peoples Congress. Mr. Haywood Cheung, NTGCC Chairman and Permanent Honorary President of the Chinese Gold and Silver Exchange Society (CGSE), stated in his speech at the reception that the new-term government has started quite well, the social atmosphere is gradually improving, relations are more harmonious, and he hoped the Hong Kong economy would move forward in the new year.

The reception was held at the Miramar Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. Over 250 business elites gathered at the event, where hundreds of political and business leaders from various sectors celebrated the Lunar New Year together. Attending guests included Mr. Joseph Chan Ho-lim, Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury; Mr. Raymond Chan Chi-yuen, Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs; Mr. Hermes Tang Yi-hoi, Commissioner of Customs and Excise; Mr. Au Chi-kwong, Commissioner of Correctional Services; Ms. Salina Yan, Director-General of Trade and Industry; and others. Mr. Bernard Chan, Convenor of the Executive Council and Honorary President of the Chamber, expressed that the new-term government has many plans that require support from all sides, and the smooth progression of policies requires the participation of the entire society. He believed that with the support of all parties, the new-term government would surely be proactive and promising.

Mr. Kevin Yeung Yun-hung, Secretary for Education, stated that since its establishment, the NTGCC has adhered to the principle of "loving the country, loving Hong Kong, and loving the hometown," striving to unite various business associations in the New Territories region and promote industry exchange and cooperation. He believed that NTGCC members would seize the future development opportunities in Hong Kong and promote the development of Hong Kongs industry and commerce.

Mr. Liu Lin, Director of the LOCPG New Territories Sub-office, said in his speech that the NTGCC has great appeal, as evidenced by the large turnout and festive atmosphere of the event. He sent new year blessings using four "news": "The country enters a new era, Hong Kong presents new hope, the NTGCC is full of new vitality," encouraging everyone to jointly create new fortunes.

Mr. Haywood Cheung mentioned that the NTGCC would celebrate its 60th anniversary next year. Over the years, the 16 member associations and all members have been united, and the chambers affairs continue to develop. The chamber also proposes suggestions to the authorities on different policies, such as the governments policy address and fiscal budget contents.

Cheung added that the new-term government has started quite well since taking office, and the social atmosphere is gradually improving. He hoped for seamless cooperation between the executive and legislative branches in the Year of the Dog for more harmonious relations, benefiting all Hong Kong citizens and allowing the Hong Kong economy to move forward. Cheung stated that the NTGCC would continue to serve society, nurture political talents, promote Hong Kongs economic development, and build a better future for Hong Kong.

As a AA category 84 member of the CGSE in Hong Kong, Upway Global was honored to be invited to attend the NTGCC Lunar New Year reception. Under the leadership of NTGCC Chairman Cheung Tak-hee, everyone exchanged blessings, shouting in unison "Gong Hei Fat Choi" (Wishing you prosperity), "May all your wishes come true," and "Good health." The atmosphere was enthusiastic and festive, and everyone raised their glasses to wish the country strength and prosperity, a booming Hong Kong economy, and health and peace for all citizens!
